SHERIFF KEITH BROOKS
Keith Brooks was elected as Sheriff for Walton County Sheriff’s Office and took office in January of 2025.
As the Sheriff, Keith Brooks is responsible for the overall operations of the Agency. The Sheriff is responsible for maintaining law and order, managing the county jail, serving warrants and court documents, providing courtroom security, overseeing civil processes, and conducting criminal investigations.
HISTORY
Employed by Sheriff Franklin Thornton in 1992, Sheriff Brooks has served in several managerial level positions throughout his law enforcement career. Moving from the duties of an entry level Deputy Sheriff, he progressed through the ranks to the rank of Chief Deputy. Throughout his career he has been recognized as a high potential executive and has managed all aspects of law enforcement duties, both routine and crisis-related.
EDUCATION
Sheriff Brooks holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. Other education achievements include a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University in Criminal Justice. Sheriff Brooks is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, an executive level program for law enforcement administration. Sheriff Brooks has completed both the Executive and Managerial Certification courses of the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
PERSONAL
Keith, his wife Stacie, and their two sons, are life-long residents of Walton County. A graduate from Monroe High School, he remains heavily involved in the community and local events.
